“39, Silence” is the name of an exhibition of Menlo Park resident Badri Valian’s  Abstract expression artworks on display at Art Ventures Gallery at 888 Santa Cruz Avenue.

Badri, who we first profiled in 2016, was born in Iran where political access for women was limited or non-existent. While the videos express the struggles she faced growing up there, they, along with her paintings, are an avenue to making peace with the past.

Badri graduated from The Fine Arts University in Iran with a B.A. in Visual Arts. She taught Art History in Iran for 15 years and was awarded for her creative work in abstract as well as expressive paintings before moving to the US.

Soon after arriving in San Francisco, Badri started working at 23rd Street Studio where she worked on creating her own unique style of expressive and abstract figurative drawings that capture the melodic motions of human body.

Her work was exhibited recently at Gallery Seyhoun in Los Angeles and has attracted art collectors from the US, as well as Greece and Brazil, among others. El Décor Online Magazine recognized her artworks as part of a New York apartment’s interior design.

In her free time, Badri has climbed Mount Klimanjaro, been to Everest Base Camp, and explored several mountains in Himalaya which she draws inspiration from in her artistic endeavor.
